Scope of Work

Our team was engaged to provide complete CAD and product engineering support, focusing on the cab outer body and associated systems. The scope included concept generation, 3D modeling, detailed drawings, and product lifecycle support with strict adherence to engineering change control processes.

Key Contributions

• Generated 3D concepts, CAD models, and detailed drawings for various cab outer body components.
• Modified chassis fairings and their reinforcements (injection molded), as well as support structures for sheet metal assemblies.
• Designed and refined plastic components, including hood side reinforcements and roof fenders.
• Supported exhaust system parts such as exhaust manifolds, mixer manifolds, and fuel filter brackets.
• Conducted clearance studies and packaging analysis for assemblies and components to ensure proper integration.
• Created and managed the Bill of Materials (BOM) for multiple assemblies.
• Supported ECR/ECN (Engineering Change Request/Engineering Change Notice) processes and ensured proper documentation.
• Assisted in product and process validation activities.

This project highlighted our expertise in 3D modeling, CAD modifications, clearance studies, tolerance management, and BOM control. By ensuring accuracy in design and compliance with process validation, we delivered high-quality engineering support that enabled Kenworth to streamline development, reduce rework, and maintain product integrity.

The collaboration with Commercial Truck Company resulted in a streamlined design and validation process for the cab's outer body and components. We provided accurate 3D models, detailed drawings, and optimized assemblies, ensuring proper fitment and functionality. Clearance studies and packaging analysis minimized design conflicts, while efficient BOM management and ECR/ECN controls enhanced product lifecycle traceability. This support resulted in faster development cycles, cost efficiency, and improved reliability of key truck components.
